3Dconnexion's SpacePilot 3D input device reviewed

XYZ Computing has a full review of Logitech-subsidary 3Dconnexion's SpacePilot input device for 3D modeling, and they find it to be almost the perfect tool for manipulating CAD programs. The SpacePilot is a synth-looking device highlighted by a rubberized "controller cap" that twists, turns, and pulls in every direction.  This allows you to adjust camera angles and work with objects in ways that are rather cumbersome using traditional mice, trackballs, or trackpads. Besides the controller cap, the SpacePilot sports 20 different buttons and an LCD screen for displaying device status. XYZ found the unit to work very well in all tested applications, and the only downside they found was the lack of support for certain apps (like games), which would greatly benefit from its versatility.
