HDTV in the daytime
Matt's post on HDTV programming aimed at women
got me thinking about high-def in the daytime. Frankly, there isn't much. I'm not trying to turn this into a chauvinistic point-of-view here and say "well, there's no HDTV programming during the day because only women are there to watch." I know that's simply not true. Besides,
I'm comfortable enough with my HDTV manhood to openly admit it. Yes,
I've watched "The Young and the Restless" in high-def. There. I said it. Happy?
Honestly, I only watched it because it was in high-def.
(No, really!) The fact remains, however, that the major networks haven't progressed towards in HDTV during the day when they've had years to do so. Why is that? Is it the type of show? I'm thinking not. As Matt pointed out,
some of the talk shows would greatly benefit from a widescreen aspect.
Is it the audience? Again, I don't think so; there's likely as many women that watch prime-time HDTV as men.
What are your thoughts on this one? I'd like to see two things here. One, I'd like to see you weigh in even if you're not home during the day to watch television. Two, I'd like to see the female point of view. I've noticed that we get very few women here and I think we're missing an extremely important perspective. Guys, do me a favor and get some input from your significant other. Let's face it: Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus and HDTV is for everyone!
