Stingray Projectile fires first (non-lethal) shot at Taser
Nothing jump starts our day like a good tasering on the way to work, and since we have grown almost immune to the effects of a Taser-brand attack, we were happy to see that a new player has recently entered the stungun market. Charlotte-based Stinger Systems has begun shipping their
$600 Stinger Projectile stungun to law enforcement agencies nationwide, although us ordinary joes will have to continue settling our disputes with regular old firearms. Stinger claims that their product is superior to the comparable Taser model due to its four immobilizing darts (Taser only has 2), 31-foot range (10 feet more than the Taser X26), and automatic shutoff after only four seconds (to Taser's five seconds, which must make the Projectile super-safe). This little shocker was originally scheduled for release several months ago, but Stinger euphamistically spins the delay as an opportunity to re-engineer the device and make "a more reliable product." Hmm, maybe we'll just stick to getting Taser-tasered after all.
