Pantech & Curitel introduces latest Japanese handset

The Japanese mobile phone scene has understandably been dominated by domestic makers for quite some time; Toshiba,
Sharp, NEC, Sony Ericsson, Hitachi, Panasonic, and other names probably ring a bell or two. But that could be changing soon enough. Pantech has announced the "A1405PT"
handset for AU, and it's the first foreign-made handset for KDDI since releasing a few Motorola ones back in 2000. The specifications are a tad basic versus what you'd expect of a modern Japanese handset, but we certainly won't put it past the Koreans to bust into the Japanese market with full force; Japan may have Korea beat on the content and service offerings, but you can't argue against all the technical developments we've seen come out of Korea in recent years.
