PocketDISH portable media player: HD-capable?
I think someone got a little over-excited on the PocketDISH
portable player that EchoStar officially announced today. We already knew that the player wasn't more more (if anything) than the Archos AV700.
The new player is available in three different storage capacities (20,
30, and 40 GB) as well as three different LCD screen sizes: 2.2-, 4-
and 7-inches.
So why is this info on HD Beat? Well, it came across my roving eye today that Beta News indicated the PocketDISH to be HD-capable
in the 4- and 7-inch flavor. Something isn't quite right here, because if they mean high-def capable, that would mean 720p displays in a small size.
Again, probably not the case (and not verified by the official press release), but it raises a good question: when we will see portable high-def media players and how small do think they will be? 720p isn't likely out of the question for a screen of six to eight iinches within the next year or two. Thoughts?
