Nintendogs sales figures; 160,000 copies across Europe

In its first week on sale in Europe, Nintendogs, Nintendo's new puppy "simulator" sold 160,000 copies. Whilst the sales figures do not match the 250,000 copies that sold in the first week of the US launch, it is still an impressive figure. According to Nintendo Senior Director of Marketing, Jim Merrick,Nintendogs has caused an increase of Nintendo DS sales "between 400-700% across Europe".

Nintendo cleverly aligned the release of Nintendogs with a £10 price drop, as well as providing a special Nintendogs bundle allowing retailers to sell Nintendogs with DS handhelds for £99.99, the original price of the DS alone. It's now clear that Nintendogs is a worldwide phenomenon with massive sales across the world and
weird Nintendogs social groups to go with them.
