Oppo is OK, but JSI is...well..cheap!
After reading Matt's post on the Oppo upconverting DVD player,
I was set to drop two-and-a-half-bills on it this weekend. I just got home from a birthday dinner and was going through my junk mail. Well,
sometimes junk can be treasure because the Sears flyer has a JSI upconverter DVD player for $99 including an HDMI cable! Yowsa!!
I did some digging and see that AVS Forum picked up
on the JSI last month. Overall, the thoughts are relatively positive,
but there isn't enough info to form a solid opinion. One thing folks seem to agree on is excellent MPEG-4 playback. If you're looking for an inexpensive upconverting DVD player for 720p or 1080i output over HDMI
(or DVI with the right adapter), the JSI JS4127 might be the ticket for a hundred clams.
