Buffalo jettisons DVD player for LinkTheater Mini

You might recall the Buffalo Technology LinkTheater —
the company's foray into the connected DVD market, which added WiFi to a multi-format DVD player, so you could play DVDs as well as media files stored on your PC. Well, the company has stripped out the DVD player, shrunk the box to 8 x 2 x 5-inches, and branded the new unit the LinkTheater Mini. The Mini can play back audio and video files stored on a PC, but it looks like it's wired-only, since the specs list only Ethernet jacks and no wireless connectivity options.
Maybe that's why it's selling in Japan for just ¥10,600 ($93).
