Sen. McCain wants DTV sooner

Consistent with reports earlier this year, Senator John McCain is looking for the DTV transition to finish up much sooner than Senator Ted Stevens is. Senator Stevens is proposing April 7, 2009 as the end of the transition while Senator McCain is looking to reclaim the spectrum in late 2006 or early 2007.

Senator McCain has to hurry and gain support as the expected vote on the draft legislation is slated for Thursday, just two days from now.
At this point, here's what I expect by the end of the week: the vote will go off as planned and will keep the 4/7/2009 transition date. There's simply too much concern for the 21 million analog households to move the date up at this point.
