MS details PC version of Xbox 360 controller

Yesterday, Microsoft announced "the retail availability of its first cross-platform game controller and the latest addition to the Microsoft Game Precision Series," otherwise known as
the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.

According to MS: "The Xbox 360 Controller for Windows retail product will include a driver for Windows XP-based PCs.
The wired Xbox 360 Controller, which comes with the core Xbox 360 system, will also work on Windows XP-based computers after users download the available driver from Microsoft." Big console and PC publishers like EA, THQ, Ubisoft, and Vivendi promise support on the Windows side of things, and drivers for the USB-based pad will also be made available for download from the Windows Update and
the MS Hardware web sites.

Of course, if you were paying attention to our site on Wednesday, you would already have been aware of the many
pics and
display confirmations at local Wal-Mart stores, but getting official confirmation of the first tangible sign of the 360 (er, not
that sign) in actual stores is notable,
nonetheless.
