XBox360 and HDTV rewind

I'm "rewinding" back to June of this year in case any of you missed this. With the XBox 360 launch in a few short weeks, this interview with Todd Holmdahl
might fill in the high-def gaps for the new console and is worth a re-read. Todd is the Corporate VP of Microsoft's XBox Product Group, so you know you're getting the real deal with his responses.

In the extensive interview, Todd indicates why Microsoft didn't go after 1080p display resolution and why Microsoft chose not to utilize HDMI cables to deliver an all digital experience. Most interesting is Todd's thoughts on Sony's choice to deliver two 1080p output signals as he indicates that the XBox GPU is powerful enough to deliver two 720p frames. Hmm...could we see an add-on down the line to pipe out two display signals?

All in all, it's a good read and it answers some of the questions you've sent us with regards to the 360 and HDTV.
