Slate article on Mark Cuban and closing the movie release window
As Mark mentioned in his HD Beat interview, HD Net is releasing movies in the theater and on store shelves on the same day, contrary to the traditional method of delaying release for months between retail, rental and finally cable broadcast.
The article goes a bit more in depth about the reason for this system and why the studios won't change (Wal-mart); and why, in the face of slipping revenues and new technology, they may have to anyway.
