PS3 launch in Japan Spring 2006 under US$400?

So we got a tip from some guy who kind of knows somebody who is friends with a dude at Joystiq who posted about a 1UP story linking to a Japanese blog called CoolGamer that 1UP says has been pretty spot on with gaming news in the past. Meaning, we have no idea how legit this is, but supposedly Sony will be launching the
PS3 in Spring of '06 for under 40,000 yen
(~$400, or the price point of the PS2 at launch). Joystiq reminds us that by the time the PS2 landed in the US, we got it for $300, so let's hope history repeats itself this time around. Obviously, nothing is confirmed, Sony won't be announcing official price deets until early next year, and of course "Spring" could mean as late as June 20th, but if it plays out this means the Xbox 360 will have some competition — at least in Japan (we know, we know).
