Bargain laptops reviewed by PCWorld

Can you get a full-featured, no-compromises laptop for just $500?
Of course not! But you can get a decent performer, if you're willing to sacrifice on a few features, in particular size, video and processor speed. Most budget laptops fall squarely in the desktop-replacement category;
don't expect an ultralight at this price. You'll also need to do some work to bring that price down; most of the deals include rebates, so be prepared to fill out forms and wait, and wait, and wait for the check to come. PCWorld looked at a few of the more notable budget machines, and found the best deal to be Acer's Aspire 3003LCi (pictured), a 6.2-pound box, which has a 1.8GHz Sempron, 15-inch display, 512MB RAM, WiFi, and a 60GB drive. And if $500 is too much for you,
just wait a while; PCWorld predicts that prices for budget laptops may drop to as little as $300 by next year.
