Rockstar's leader of the pack, Vroom Vroom

Newsweek wubs Rockstar. Here's why they say that the company rules, and why they believe it will continue to rule:

  • Rockstar "consistently avoids" the trap of creating shameless and unoriginal ripoffs

  • Rockstar knows "pop culture and underground trends" well enought to "set trends for the larger culture"

  • "creatively, Rockstar remains at the top of its game, making clever artistic choices that define this emerging
    medium"

  • GTA:LCS sports a "mission-based structure [that] is surprisingly well suited to a handheld" therefore
GTA:LCS is fun and will do well

Ultimately, mainstream rags have to dumb it so far down for their broader readership that it leaves us gamers going,
"That's it? It took you 920 words to say that?" Still, we do appreciate the reporter's enthusiasm for the subject and his restraint on the whole GTA thing. For instance, he could've but didn't mindlessly parrot the conservative line on games with "mature" subject matter.

That's a step in the right direction.

Speaking of GTA:LCS, don't miss our meetup &
beatup
next week.

[Thanks, Bandersnatch]
