Mobile Voter helps register voters via SMS
It's a little late to help you out if you haven't registered to vote for this year's elections (they're next Tuesday, remember?), but Mobile Voter, based in San Francisco, has set up a system — which it says is the first of its kind in the US — to help voters register via SMS. No, you can't actually register via text message, but you can send a quick message to Mobile Voter, which will then arrange for registration forms to be sent back to you via — sigh — snail mail. Hey, it's a start. Sure, Americans may not be able to vote via SMS yet, like some Swiss villagers, but at least Mobile Voter will remind anyone they've registered to get out and vote (next Tuesday, remember?).
