How to: get your HDTV content on DVD

know what you're saying: "DVDs are typically 720 x 480 and HDTV can be up to 1920 x 1080 resolution, so how can this be?" Well, the answer is the same for every similar question regarding digital media format: you convert it. HDTV2DVD
is a handy bit of freeware that lets you do just that. I could see this work as a nice archive mechanism for you Windows Media Center folks recording HD over-the-air.
Using the software, you just locate the Transport Stream (.ts) of your high-def recording and HDTV2DVD does the rest; which is both good and bad. It's good because it's simple,
but bad because you currently can't modify properties like the program bit rate. Either way, the software looks promising and it's free. I'll leave it to you WMCE owners to try and report your findings; I don't have a Media Center PC and my HD PVR isn't here yet. Let us know what you find!
