Flat Panel HDTV market set to pick up in 2006

That's the latest word from the HDTV Conference 2005 recently held in Taiwan. Why should you believe 2006 is really the year for flat panels and high definition? Philps claims 95% of their flat panels shipped in 2006 will be HD Ready (I hope they're not counting 1024x768, because Kevin has his soapbox ready and waiting). Beyond that, the price wars we have been anticipating for this holiday season among LCD and PDP screens will push prices lower.

The most disappointing thing is they will only commit to 2007 as an estimated time when high definition plasma sales will outpace SD sales. I think that really is more due to people not knowing what they are buying than anything else, why else would you spend that much on a TV and not go high definition?
