Game Developers Conference 2006 details revealed
The 2006 Game Developers Conference, which takes place March 20-24 in San Jose, California, has release a full list of all the conference sessions. Some of the conferences are very interesting, here are some of the highlights:
-
...And Make It Snappy! Crafting
Concise, Effective Dialogue for your Game: Hopefully, we will never have to relive Resident Evil-esque
voice acting again. -
Attracting Women to Game
Development: In case you have not noticed, the gaming industry is
overcrowded with white males averaging 31 years of
age. -
Big Screen to Game Console: Case
Studies: Maybe King Kong will break the curse, but licensed games are notoriously mediocre at
best. -
Game Design Considerations for
Alternate Controllers: Think they might discuss the Revolution? -
Will Wright Talk: I think
the title just about sums it up.
Last (but certainly not least) is the GDC's legendary
Game Design Challenge. This year the challenge is to design a game that could win a Nobel Peace Prize. The event is rather tongue-in-cheek; GDC
Europe's design challenge begged the question "What do
Grannies like [to play]?" leading to some very interesting answers (specifically from Katamari Damacy's Keita Takahashi). Are there any other interesting conferences on the list we missed?
