Amazon.com offers rebates on Apple notebooks and desktops

If you're itching for a new Mac, check out the $25 to $200 rebates Amazon.com is offering on various notebook and desktop models. The most tempting items are the 17" PowerBooks and G5 desktops sporting a $200 rebate coupon. Rebates are good for purchases from Amazon between November 9 and December 20, 2005 — just in time for the holidays. If you bite, don't forget to postmark the rebate coupon by January 20, 2006.

The rebates sound good, but if you have access to Apple education prices, check them out before taking the Amazon deals. For example, I just found I could get the same 17" PowerBook from the Apple Education Store for the same price as the after-rebate price from Amazon without going through the rebate hassle.
