MGM backs Blu-ray

This isn't a huge surprise but still a significant one. MGM Studios (think Bond, James Bond) is partly owned by investment groups along with Sony and Comcast. With Sony behind MGM it wasn't a shocker, but it is still nice to see it in writing that MGM will release their library of over 4,000 movies and television shows on Blu-ray whenever it launches.

So to recap: we now have MGM, Warner Bros., and Paramount on Sony's bench. Toshiba's HD-DVD is starting to look a little bare other than having like a billion consumers in China on its side.
