What's a gamer to do with an 18 megapixel display?

Display extremely high resolution game maps at their native resolution, that's what! When Alex Bisler stumbled upon Ian Albert's excellent archive of retro video game maps, a light bulb went off in his head. You see, Alex happens to work at a research institute which leaves a display capable of 6000x3000 pixels lying around. Whilst that's still not enough to fit every map on the screen (some of the maps are an insane 20,000x20,000 pixels across and weigh in at over 80MB!) they still look extremely impressive when displayed on the institute's
"HEyeWall".

If you're feeling a bit of pixel envy, stop reading and go check out the pictures of Alex being dwarfed by Zelda and Ultima maps!

[Thanks, Alex Bisler]
