Canon PowerShot S80 reviewed
Now that the low-end in compact point-and-shoot digicams seems fixed at 5 megapixels, how can a company like Canon differentiate its consumer offerings? By pumping their models up to 8 megapixels, of course. That's the most salient feature about the company's
PowerShot S80, which TrustedReviews has just checked out.
The reviewer found the camera a little bulky for a compact, and, at £498.99 ($868), a bit on the expensive side (it goes for about $500 in the US, still steep for a compact, but at least not in SLR territory). But all-in-all, the reviewer found that the camera's 8 megapixel sensor and 3.6x zoom lens produces "results that are among the best I've seen," making it "one of the best compact cameras you can buy." Let's just hope our UK mates can find it for a better price.
