Blu-ray Disc Association: Mandatory Managed Copy in, iHD (maybe) out

That's their decision according to this Reuters article. The BDA has decided to include Mandatory Managed Copy as a part of the Blu-ray spec, but while iHD is "being considered", they plan on going forward with only Sun's BD-J standard for interactive content. HP is sticking to their guns however, saying that if both features are not implemented, they could end up supporting both, and displaying both formats at trade shows.

Okay Blu-ray, so you're going ahead with the Spring 2006 launch, but you don't know what features you're going to be launching with? As if early adopters didn't have it bad enough, I think it's safe to say most of us will want to look at first gen Blu-ray players with a very jaded eye. Plus now we can wait for another hilarious Toshiba press release about how this is good for HD-DVD, you've gotta love it.
