HD filming makes its way to Maine
"Mud"
is yet another independent film shot in high-def. The filmmakers are Maine residents and that's where this movie about backwoods family takes place. They are having a private screening tonight and if things go well, perhaps it will make its way around the independent circles and maybe end up at next year's HDFest. I watched the trailer (not HD) and found it interesting. It looks good, plus it full feature is in HD.
The creator of the film loves the idea of shooting in digital format. He is using a Sony HDV camcorder and Final Cut Pro 5 to edit the film. The idea of digital film is very appealing to small filmmakers as they do not need a room full of reel-to-reel editors; just a good Mac with lots of hard drive space. That's it. A little bit of talent is good to have but not necessary as digital enhancements can help everyone. i.e.
Ashley Simpson.
The creators of Mud stress that even though their film is shot in HD, it is the talent that makes the film work.
