Dimension will distribute Dead or Alive movie

Fall 2006. That is the tentative date that Dimension Films will unleash Corey Yuen's game adaptation Dead or Alive to North American cinemas. Dimension recently acquired the rights to distribute the kung fu fighter, which recently wrapped up filming in China.

There are a surprising number of fighting game-to-film adaptations set for next year, including Tekken (which is rumored to star Jet Li, a friend and longtime collaborator of Yuen) and Mortal Kombat: Devastation with Robin Shou as Liu Kang (who is also in Dead or Alive as a "Pirate Leader"). Whether or not this is game-to-film overkill, next year should be great for martial arts enthusiasts.
