HDTV Prices continue to drop

That's the message from The Mercury News,
citing Norcent's 27" LCD for less than $700. I don't disagree with their assertion, however it seems that they are completely ignoring CRT
televisions, which have been available at that price level for a while at that size. The article only mentions plasma and LCD televisions,
playing into another widely held HDTV myth, that all HDTV are flat panel displays and vice versa.

This is particularly noticeable because the article seems to be pointing the TV's out for use with the Xbox 360, in which case traditional CRT's are many people's best price/performance bet, especially at 32" or lower sizes. I also wonder if we will see the 32" LCD screens for less than $799 that had been rumored. .

They also failed to mention that even if a TV is only HD-ready, your cable TV or satellite box may include the necessary HDTV tuner in it, but did recommend that people look for TV's with a minimum resolution of 1280x720 (720p). Check out the article and let me know if I'm reading to much into this or if my soapbox is completely necessary here.
