Intel inside … RV Tec WiFi Windows Mobile smartphone
Sure there are a lot of Pocket PC-based smartphones, and
there are a fair number that support WiFi, and, yes, there are phones out there with rotating cameras. But how
many are mashups of all of those features — and have the marketing clout of Intel behind them? That looks like the
most significant thing about RV Tec's new smartphone, now being hawked at the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong. The
Windows Mobile smartphone, which includes built-in WiFi for VoIP and video-calling, is actually being hosted by
Intel, which provides its PXA 270 CPU. No, we don't expect this one to make it to America any time soon, and Intel
hasn't declared this a reference platform or anything, but it could be a sign that the company is planning to get
behind WiFi-VoIP/cellphone hybrids in a big way, and we're certainly down with that.
