Good job NBC
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade looks amazing in high-def. The balloons are big and bright. The sequences simmer on the band members and Katie Couric looks great. The best part though is I am nice and warm in my home with my family instead of freezing cold in New York.
Good Morning America had a large audience when they launched in HD but the Macy's parade is reaching an even bigger demographic. There is a difference though. ABC explained the benefits of HD throughout the show and told people why high-def was better. Plus, they had a lot of good marketing that it was making the switch. NBC has done nothing. In fact I had no idea that this parade was going to be in HD. I started writing a post about how it was a missed opportunity by NBC but then flipped it the HD station by habit and to my surprise it was in HD.
Is this a glimpse of the future? Are we going to start to see the Today show in HD? If they have enough cameras to cover this parade throughout New York, they ought to have enough to film the Today show.
