Pioneer and NEC showcasing high-def dvd players
There is an IT show next month over in Taipei. Pioneer and NEC
are going to show off some of their new blue laser optical drives. Both companies support different camps in the format wars with Pioneer in Sony's corner and NEC firmly in Toshiba's HD DVD corner. NEC is going to showcase their HD DVD players, not burners, as they are ready to go into production in December. NEC has stated that they are not going to bring a HD DVD burner to the market till it is ready for it.
Personally,
I think they should bring the burners rather then the players up front and then the burners later. That of course would not bring in as much revenue courtesy of us early adapters, but it would be a better option for the consumer.
