Rockefeller Center goes high-def
One the best places to visit in Manhattan is Rockefeller Center
and the surrounding area that includes Radio City Music Hall, NBC
Studios, the Late Night studio and much more. If you're heading to Rockefeller Center to see the gi-moungous Christmas Tree, you might see some other cool sights too: in high def.
NBC worked out a deal with Sharp to add 150 AQUOS LCD flat panels
in NBC's parts of Rockefeller Center. If you hit the NBC Experience Store, the NBC Studio Tour or even Studio 8H where Saturday Night Live is broadcast, chances are you'll see some razor-sharp television too.
I'm thinking that most of the sets will be tuned in to NBC programming,
but hey, that's just me.
The deal for the sets is for five years and includes Sharp's monster-big, 65-inch set on permanent display in a window on 49th Street. Smart move of NBC to embrace the technology by not only broadcasting in 1080i, but also by showing off the high-def picture all around the town.
