Panasonic lowering power consumtion on PDPs

Plasmas are big power consumers. They do eat up considerably more power then their LCD counterparts, but Panasonic's parent company, Matsushita is working on it. Currently, Sharp LCDs are the most efficient flat panel over 37-inches. It consumes 192 kwh/year. That's not bad, but Panasonic's 37-inch high definition plasma is not far behind in power consumption. The Panasonic consumes 219 kwh/year.

So my question to you is, do you care? Do you care how much power your new HD set consumes? Was that even a thought in your mind when you were shopping for your TV?
