2 new LCD RPTVs from Epson
Epson
is bringing out 2 new rear projection LCD TVs in the Japan market. They are of course 1080p with digital turners and all the bells and whistles that a consumer can except. They do feature sound courtesy of Onkyo and this is an Epson TV, so it has to have something to do with digital photography.
Does everyone remember Epson's early rear projection TVs.
Let me refresh your memory a bit. They had a 4 x 6 printer in them. A
gosh darn printer integrated into the set! Cool idea but it was never received well. These new TVs have memory card readers and a USB port to hook up a printer. Now that's a better idea. That way when the printer dies on you in two years, you can buy a new one and hook it up; plus you are not limited to just 4x6s.
The more I talk about it, the more I can picture a nice looking printer sitting next to my receiver and DVD player. It would have to be a bottom loader like HP
otherwise it would look funny. (Epson's are top loaders) But I bet you they are the close to the same 16.5-inches wide that a normal audio/video device is. In fact, I like this idea a lot. Would you put a printer with your audio/video equipment if you could print from the TV or media center PC?
