Blu-ray to announce launch details in January

The BDA is still on track to launch in spring 2006, although don't expect any further details until CES in January. That's the word from a press conference put on to show off various features of the format, like the interactive capabilities and being able to bring up the menu while the movie continues to play. They also commented on the cost issue, saying they expect manufacturing costs to drop quickly and come close to or match those of HD-DVD.

Sony is certainly setting up a big show for CES, hopefully what we see of Blu-ray and the PS3 will live up to the hype.
