360 VIP status for purchase in Australia and New Zealand
An exclusive club is starting for 360 owners, but only for residents of Australia and New Zealand (for now).
Registered members will gain "unparalleled access to information, offers, events and some awesome competitions
(including a trip to E3 in 2006)."
Unlike the Gamer Advisory Panel for U.S. PlayStation owners, and
Club Nintendo overseas, membership in the "VIP Premiere Club" is bought via VIP cards included in VIP Premiere Packs to be made available at retailers down under on December the 8th. (Members of rival console clubs typically have to buy relevant products to qualify for status and promos, but membership does not seem to be available directly for purchase there.)
Premiere Pack buyers will receive a copy of PDZ, a 360 wireless control pad, that ker-razy blue faceplate, a DVD containing making-of videos, and the Xbox 360 VIP card in question. If you like Perfect Dark Zero and need another wireless controller, then
this $149.99 RRD package (which comes out to just over $110 USD) could well be worth the price for Xbox addicts in Oceania. The pack is being offered to those who pre-order the Premiere system, but it's apparently not available for or compatible with the Core.
