NEC introduces "PC Parafield" hard disk-less notebook
NEC has announced what they claim is the world's first commercial hard drive-less laptop, the 12.1-inch (1024 x 768), 1.73 GHz "PC Parafield." Targeted almost exclusively at corporate customers, the Parafield aims to combine the security of network-dependant thin-client systems with the flexibility of regular notebooks by including 3GB of flash ROM for Windows XP Pro and application storage along with 512MB of RAM. This 2.8-pound road warrior's delight can be had immediately (in Japan, that is) for $3742.
