Watch out for bigger OLEDs thanks to Sony
OLED. These are amazing screens. The biggest one I have seen is in the Zen Micro Photo that sports a 1.5-inch screen but boy, am I in love. They are so bright and crisp and can do great blacks. They do not require backlighting so they theoretically can be very thin. So where are the OLED HDTVs?
Sony and the Japanese oil company Idemitsu Kosan Co. entered into a joint agreement to develop the materials necessary to produce these amazing screens. Hopefully this will make way for bigger OLED screens. Currently Sony has these screens in their PDA's, but alas, those are not available in the States.
If you have not seen one of these screens, make a trip down to a large electronics store and seek out the Zen Micro Photo. It is worth the gas for the trip.
