Palm VP sez Linux-powered mobiles likely
Things were alot easier when Palm was just Palm and that was that. Now, not only is hardware company Palm about to release a Windows Mobile-powered version of the Treo, word comes from Palm's Asia Pacific vice president, Paul Blinkhorn, that Palm is likely to build mobile phones running the Linux OS as well. What makes this even more confusing is that,
as we reported earlier, it's unclear whether he is referring to PalmSource/Access's rumored Linux-based Palm OS, or
yet another OS stemming from Palm's recent acquisition of a Chinese Linux developer. Also unknown is whether such a device would be branded as part of the Treo line or start a product line all its own. As always, when we have more details, you'll be the first to know.
