Christmas Guild Wars tournament open for registration

Life isn't just about scantily-clad elves and questing the night away. Guild Wars is gaining stature as a tournament game, with its heavily integrated PvP lending itself well to serious competition. The Electronic Sports League's Christmas tournament features battles between teams of eight from the three Guild Wars regions — Europe, Korea and America — with prizes and fame to be claimed by the victorious.

The official Guild Wars World Championship is still underway, although teams have less than a month to play enough Guild-vs-Guild matches to qualify. It's not necessarily the best introduction to PvP—but as MMOs gain ground as competitive platforms, will we see World of Warcraft Battlegrounds games alongside 1-on-1 FPS
