Victoria's Secret show tastefully done in HD

We were one of the first to tell you the show wouldn't be in high-def
and then we figured out that it was in 1080i; gotta love that Windows Media Center electronic guide! Now I'm wondering how that guide knew it was in HD, when NONE of the other sources (including CBS themselves)
consistently listed it as high-def!

For those that missed it; the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was extravagant and tastefully done.
In fact, a runway-type or stage show is perfect for a 16:9 widescreen presentation as evidenced by more shots after the jump. Some of my favorite high-def parts actually had nothing to do with the girls; when you can read the brand of microphone on a trumpet (Shure, by the way),
you know it's as if you're right there....

The opening scene was filled with darkness and music; a great start with an outstanding trumpet performance to "set the stage".

The first model to hit the stage was wearing the giga-zillion dollar bra made entirely of precious stones. The widescreen format really shines on this pull away shot.

One of the most touching parts of the show was with Heidi Klum as the first model to walk during her husband's performance. Seal was outstanding as evidenced by the 5.1 surround sound.

The goal here was to point out that CBS really took advantage of high-definition technology; they utilized both the visual and audio advantages over an SD broadcast to maximize the experience. I still don't understand why the big "secret" on the high-def broadcast, but we were on top of it. I did fire off a note to CBS early yesterday, but I haven't received a response yet.

If you had a chance to watch it (in SD or HD), let us know what you thought! Do you feel you missed anything in SD? Did they truly take advantage of HD?
