1984 Computers and Electronics article on the Mac

Over at Jag's House I found an article from 1984 on the intro of the Mac. Billed on the cover as "Apple's exciting new business computer," it's a wonderful step back in time to a different era. I had to laugh at the lower headline on the cover though: "Windowing Software: Is it for you?" I guess if you're planning on buying a Mac, it is. The article is a fascinating read, full of detailed specs and rather gushing comments regarding the "new" system. Little details like a lack of expansion slots are glossed over. Since the author, Vanessa Schnatmeier, saw a glimpse of the Mac just before its release, it's safe to say Steve Jobs probably extended his infamous RDF (beta) while she gazed upon the newly minted Mac. There are also some great tidbits, like Vanessa's warning that the mouse may take some getting used to. Or how about Microsoft anticipating a full 50% of its revenue stemming from Mac-related product sales? Yeah, those were the days.
