Pioneer restructuring PDP production; stops OLED altogether

Well,
Pioneer had a great run in plasmas. Until recently they were doing great in the business but a few months ago they reported the first loss in over 10 years.
They are taking that loss and restructuring their plasma business.
Pioneer is going to stop letting other companies use their panels for OEM use in order to keep them for internal use. The external panel market is a large loss leader for them and is not necessary now that everyone and their brother can make a PDP. They are using this restructuring to focus their attention back to the high-end plasma market.

OLED is a display technology that Pioneer helped to...pioneer. They are cutting their losses and getting out while they can. They had a joint venture with another Japanese company but they were unable to mass produce the displays.

These measures should keep Pioneer in the black till March of 2007
