Dec. 12: What's on HDTV Today

What we're watching: What do you do when traffic bottlenecks in Southern France? Simple, you build a massive bridge over a 1.3 mile gorge, right? Actually, that should be about 2 kilometers, but we really never gave in on the metric system.

Check out the plans and progress on Discovery-HD at 9 p.m. tonight. "Extreme Engineering" features the Milau Viaduct this evening in 1080i. The show is only an hour long, so that leaves plenty of time to catch Monday Night Football on ABC in 720p. It started at 9 also, but you can tune in at 10 p.m. and watch the Saints at the Falcons. One of these NFC South teams should have scored by then. In the "by-the-way" category: the Saints have lost their last 6 MNF games in SD and HD.

After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.
