Resources for beginning druids
I've played a druid since WoW launched, and I keep coming back to the class because of its versatility. However, there are a couple of things that may confuse newbie druids, so here's a run-down of some of the resources that can help a baby druid grow up safely:
- WorldOfWarcraftStuff.com's guide to the first twelve levels is extremely in-depth, starting from the character creation screen. Similarly, Ten Ton Hammer's guide covers everything from trainers to tactics and areas to adventure; you'll probably find yourself coming back to it.
- Thottbot's got some info on the "Heeding the Call/Moonglade" series of quests (available at level 10, these lead to bear form) and also on the trickier form quest series, "A Lesson to Learn/Trial of the Lake/Trial of the Sea Lion" (level 16), which reward you with aquatic form.
- The MapCoords addon (or any other that performs the same task) is invaluable for these quests, helping you locate underwater points quickly.
- If you're a Restoration druid, this table from WoWHealers is a great instant-lookup guide to the values of each healing spell.
- Finally, the official site and forums are rich with information: Berius' and Azoth's FAQs cover everything from the basics ("When do I get my forms?") to the complicated ("What is my role in a group?"). There's also an equipment list and macro guide for druids available.
With druids, there are many questions with multiple or open-ended answers, such as the aforementioned "What is my role?" and also "Which professions should I take?". The sites linked above give you a set of different answers, and it's up to you how you interpret the class. I've personally found I'm more in demand as a healer than anything else, so I chose professions and talents that complement that role–however, I've tanked instances more than once, and solo a lot as a caster who can self-heal, so anything is possible.
