PC Mag reviews Sony's DSC-N1 ultracompact

PC Mag has a review up for Sony's sexy DSC-N1, and they seem to think it's more than just a pretty face. The 3X zoom is nothing special, and the lack of optical image stabilization is lame for sure, but they like 8.1 megapixel pics, and loved the 3-inch touchscreen LCD. Their favorite feature was the album mode, which smoothly transitions through a slideshow of your shots accompanied by a soundtrack. It works by storing VGA versions of your pics in the onboard memory when you take a photo, with up to 500 of them fitting in the 26MB of space included. The large, bright touchscreen can be controlled with what Cnet found to be a rather bulky stylus, but which can be used to draw on or stamp your pictures, though thankfully the camera automatically saves the original pic. They did find the menus a tad disorganized, and though the camera shoots good video, it's in the space wasting MPEG-1 format. Overall though, they dig the $500 cam, but stick with their Editors' Choice award for the Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital Elph.
