Apple to release light-weight notebooks for the ladies?
Take this Apple "notebook" rumor for what you will but the Taipei Times is reporting that Apple is set to unveil new "light-weight models with a stylish design aimed at luring female users" sometime next year. What's odd here are the specifics provided by an analyst who, as we all know are bound by non-disclosure.
Seems Topology analyst Simon Yang has gone on record calling for a new 3.3-pound, 12-inch "notebook" as well as a 14-inch model below 4.9-pounds expected to hit the streets sometime next year. That makes the 12-incher 1.6 and 1.3-pounds lighter than the current 12-inch iBook and PowerBook (respectively) while the 14-incher comes in at 1.5-pounds less than the 14-inch iBook.
This does jibe with earlier reports of 20-25% thinner PowerBooks thanks to those new Intel chips, however, don't go placing any bets on this one yet.
