Computer industry has new "unified display interface" in the works

As if DVI and HDMI weren't keeping us busy enough with connector matching and the sort, some industry types including Apple, Intel, LG, Samsung, and NVIDIA are developing a new "unified display interface" (UDI)
to solve all these problems, or maybe it's just because they enjoy entertaining us with format shenanigans. It's of course bringing the HDCP to keep those bits and bytes safe, but lucky for us the connector will be able to support bigger and badder video signals, and will be cheaper, smaller, and in some way compatible with HDMI — so we'll see how that plays out.
