Will the DS work with Nintendo's upcoming Revolution?

If there is anything Nintendo fans have in abundance, it would be in the form of Revolution rumors and speculation.
Some top-level company execs have hinted that we still do not know everything regarding the next-gen console, and many believe another "secret" is still under wraps. Enter the Nintendo DS.

Could the DS somehow be involved in all the speculation? Maybe the two could play together, wirelessly? Post any ideas and/or retorts in the comments.
