Nintendo DS fastest selling console ever

Apparently, the 5.44 million DS units sold in 13 months in Japan make the Nintendo DS the fastest selling console ever. From the article: "This makes the DS the fastest-ever selling console to hit the magic and mightily impressive five million sales, beating the GBA which took over 14 months to reach the same number. Sony's PlayStation 2, by comparison, took 17 months to hit this many."

The DS truly has impressed. Makes you wonder if the handheld's success is somewhat of a surprise to Nintendo itself.
