Hitachi's AirSense environmental sensor system
To date we thought we were pretty well off without a series of pervasive environmental sensors reminding us exactly how unclean or dry our air is — but this data might be useful for people in the healthcare industry, for one. Thus, enter Hitachi's AirSense sensor, a wireless, networkable health and environment information system tuned for collecting temperature, humidity, and earthquake vibration (hey,
don't look at us) in base-station form, in addition to heart rate and pulse information in wristwatch form.
Unfortunately this isn't (yet) going to be marketed toward the end-user, so you're going to have to have to monitor earthquakes in your home the old fashioned way: listen to your good china rattle in the cabinet, or get your friendly local seismologist to install a that $170 early warning system for you.
